So Have a Merry Little Christmas…

It is Christmas day, well very early on Christmas day. It is almost one o’clock in the morning as I am writing this… My older sister, her boyfriend and I are waiting on my parents and younger sisters to arrive back home from midnight mass at church. When they get home, we will open the presents that we have received thus far, like every other year…

Tonight I had given my godmother the rosary that I had made her. She is so happy with it and absolutely loves it. I’m so glad that she does.

My older sister spent last night and the night before here with her boyfriend and she will be with her boyfriend’s side of the family later today. In several hours or so my parents, younger sisters and I will be heading to my grandfather’s house for the traditional family get together. There will be good Portuguese food, fun with my cousins and presents of course.

On Saturday night we had my one uncle, aunt and cousin’s here for dinner. These relatives of mine had never at least said “Happy Birthday” to my sisters and I for years… When my aunt gave us each our present that night, she told us to open it and so we did… It was a little Christmas gift back with an envelope inside, inside of the envelope was R500. I was curious at to why they gave us each so much money; usually from some relatives we would get R100 or R200 as a gift. So when I said thank you to my aunt, I asked her as to why they had given so much and she told my sisters and I it was to make up for the “missed” birthdays… I wonder why it had taken many years to realize that they had “forgotten” our birthdays…

Lunch at my grandfather's houseMy younger sisters, two of our cousins and I went over to my grandfather’s house and cleaned it up. My cousin (who is home for Christmas) decided to move some furniture around to give the house a change. I think my grandfather will not be impressed, furniture has been moved around and I am sure would prefer everything to just stay as it were… Oh well, change is good I guess… When we took a break for lunch, we locked up the house, got into my cousin’s car and headed off to buy some food. We went to three different places to buy our lunch. We first went to buy some chicken at KFC, bought some chips from Steers and bought some ice cream, microwave popcorn, pretzels, butter and bread rolls from Spar…We stayed till about eleven o’clock that night playing Uno and watching DVDs. We had lots of fun while cleaning up the place and we might be sleeping over at my grandfather’s house tonight, my younger sisters, two cousins and I, it will be fun.

100 Strokes of the Brush Before Bed by Melissa PChristmas card from CindaI have received two Christmas gifts from people online. My online friend, Ryan had sent me an e-voucher and Crowe* sent me a book that I had on my wish list, 100 Strokes of the Brush Before Bed by Melissa P. It was delivered to me on Saturday morning, I have not started reading it yet. Thank you Crowe* for my Christmas gift. And Ryan, thank you for the e-voucher… I had also received a Christmas card from Cinda and have another from Stephen on the way. I feel all special and Christmas-sy…

I hope that everyone has a good and safe Christmas this year.

No Actual Title Right Now

Candy From AmericaMy cousin who is back for Christmas came over on Sunday afternoon for a visit, along with her brother. We talked, watched a couple of DVDs, had a delicious lunch and played many rounds of Uno. It is great to have her back, we have all missed her. She brought chocolates from America for my sisters and I. I really like the Milky Way Bar (which I think is available here in South Africa) and Reese’s Caramel Peanut Butter Cup. Kissables taste like our Nestlé Smarties but have a different chocolate taste… I like Cadbury chocolate the most though…

ShoppingOn Monday morning my older sister had given each of my younger sisters and myself some money which we used at the mall that day. We met up with our cousin at the mall and did some browsing and very light shopping. While we waited on my cousin’s brother to arrive we sipped on delicious slushies before seating ourselves at Spur where we would all have lunch on my cousin’s brother’s arrival. My youngest sister and I had a kid’s portion of ribs and fries. I should have ordered a rib burger instead, no bones and less messy…

Charm BraceletsPearl RosaryChristmas is just a few days away! I can not wait to spend time with the family and have fun. To add to some existing Christmas gifts, I made some charm bracelets for some of my female cousins and I had also made a pale pink pearl rosary for my godmother. I know that my godmother will really like the rosary, well, I hope she does. It took some time to make because I did not rush as I feared to scratch the pearls with the wire pins and pliers. In the end it turned out beautiful, I think…

I think that my younger sisters, cousins and I will be over at my grandfather’s house tomorrow. We want to clean it up because none of us want Christmas at our aunt’s house instead of my grandfather’s. We spend every Christmas day at my grandfather’s house, it is tradition. None of us like our aunt’s house, there is nothing to do besides sit in her lounge and do nothing better but sleep and we do not want to spend Christmas day like that. As my grandfather has been living with my aunt for some time now, his house has been empty and collecting dust, it needs to be cleaned. So we want to get the place cleaned up so we can have our traditional Christmas day at our grandfather’s house. Even if we have to make it happen by ourselves…

Family, Death and The Internet

I have been feeling like death since December 5th. Having the flu in summer is the worst. the summer heat and my being ill definitely do not mix well together. It does not feel any good when I am feeling five times hotter than my fever because of the damn summer heat… It is really uncomfortable…

Yesterday was my mother’s birthday and the one year mark of my favorite uncle’s death. It was so sudden and it feels so unreal. I keep thinking that he is still alive, that he is at work and I will be seeing him the next time that the family is together. Whenever those days come and he does not make an appearance, I am reminded that he is really gone. I still keep thinking that he is not…

Kissing Hayley - Eww!Since my last update I have done nothing more than baby sit and be lazy. My niece has been more than a handful. I think that she is starting to teethe and so she has been really fussy. The only way I could get her to sleep now is by applying TeeJel onto her gums and have her sucking away on a pacifier… In two days she will be six months old. Time is really passing by too fast. We might be holding a small “Half a Year Old” party for her with half a cupcake and even half a candle. I think that this will be really cute and my cousin will be here to join us. She will not be here for my niece’s first birthday so I also think it will be something special.

My cousin was scheduled to arrive this morning. She is home for Christmas and will be heading back to the United States of America in January to continue her studies. I am so excited to see her! I will hopefully be seeing her this weekend…

Cameron’s website and mine were unavailable for sometime as there were some issues with the server. Cameron moved back to the previous server and now things are running smoothly again. I will be adding a link to my website page for any hosting donations that anyone would like to send. Any donations towards the costs of hosting will be greatly appreciated.
