It is Christmas day, well very early on Christmas day. It is almost one o’clock in the morning as I am writing this… My older sister, her boyfriend and I are waiting on my parents and younger sisters to arrive back home from midnight mass at church. When they get home, we will open the presents that we have received thus far, like every other year…
Tonight I had given my godmother the rosary that I had made her. She is so happy with it and absolutely loves it. I’m so glad that she does.
My older sister spent last night and the night before here with her boyfriend and she will be with her boyfriend’s side of the family later today. In several hours or so my parents, younger sisters and I will be heading to my grandfather’s house for the traditional family get together. There will be good Portuguese food, fun with my cousins and presents of course.
On Saturday night we had my one uncle, aunt and cousin’s here for dinner. These relatives of mine had never at least said “Happy Birthday” to my sisters and I for years… When my aunt gave us each our present that night, she told us to open it and so we did… It was a little Christmas gift back with an envelope inside, inside of the envelope was R500. I was curious at to why they gave us each so much money; usually from some relatives we would get R100 or R200 as a gift. So when I said thank you to my aunt, I asked her as to why they had given so much and she told my sisters and I it was to make up for the “missed” birthdays… I wonder why it had taken many years to realize that they had “forgotten” our birthdays…
My younger sisters, two of our cousins and I went over to my grandfather’s house and cleaned it up. My cousin (who is home for Christmas) decided to move some furniture around to give the house a change. I think my grandfather will not be impressed, furniture has been moved around and I am sure would prefer everything to just stay as it were… Oh well, change is good I guess… When we took a break for lunch, we locked up the house, got into my cousin’s car and headed off to buy some food. We went to three different places to buy our lunch. We first went to buy some chicken at KFC, bought some chips from Steers and bought some ice cream, microwave popcorn, pretzels, butter and bread rolls from Spar…We stayed till about eleven o’clock that night playing Uno and watching DVDs. We had lots of fun while cleaning up the place and we might be sleeping over at my grandfather’s house tonight, my younger sisters, two cousins and I, it will be fun.

I have received two Christmas gifts from people online. My online friend, Ryan had sent me an e-voucher and Crowe* sent me a book that I had on my wish list, 100 Strokes of the Brush Before Bed by Melissa P. It was delivered to me on Saturday morning, I have not started reading it yet. Thank you Crowe* for my Christmas gift. And Ryan, thank you for the e-voucher… I had also received a Christmas card from Cinda and have another from Stephen on the way. I feel all special and Christmas-sy…
I hope that everyone has a good and safe Christmas this year.
