Snow!

Snow monster thing My three little snowmen
Almost two buckets worth of snow!

It snowed last night and during the early hours of this morning. I made a small snowman this around six o’clock this morning… And another plain one; I also made one last night after a bit of snowfall. Around seven o’clock or so this morning, my youngest sister and I took a bucket and gathered almost two buckets full of snow from the slide and old Audi in our back yard. My sister made a snow monster thing with it.

It never snows here… Last year we had a little snow, but not enough to cover the ground, that was the first time I saw snow. This year it snowed enough to cover to cover the ground, it was around two centimeters thick on our back lawn.

A very cold, awesome and exciting day it was!

Quickie

Just a quick update because I have to sort out some stuff today…

We didn’t get the loan… The bank is asking for way to much in return for the amount that we wanted to loan. I don’t know why banks will allow someone to pay off a loan using almost their whole salary… It’s stupid because the person will have hardly any money to live off of after paying his monthly installment to the bank.

So Victor and I have decided to rent an apartment in Roodepoort. We’ll be calling the letting agent to make an appointment for Saturday in regards to making a securing deposit and filling out the paperwork… Then hopefully we’ll be able to move in sometime in August.

I’m anxious about this…

Hope is a Waking Dream

I emailed my cousin in the USA (She’s studying there) recently asking for her help. I had some Amazon.com gift certificates that I had loaded into my Amazon.com account and wanted to buy some things from Amazon.com. So I asked her if I could have the items purchased delivered to her and if she could bring them with when she comes home for Christmas. Her reply was, “Yes”.

When I am able to buy stuff off of Amazon.com by means of gift certificates, I can buy things that are cheaper than what they are here and things that I am not able to find in South Africa. My online friend Mark from Australia sent me a gift certificate and he told me that it is to go towards buying stuff for when I move out… So I purchased a cutlery set, it’s nothing fancy but for the price it’s way cheaper than here. Thank you Mark!

I got a gift from my aunt and cousins that went to Madeira recently… One of them is my cousin that is studying in the USA. Anyway, my gift was Rebuçados de Funcho and a little cellphone sock with the Portuguese flag on it. Rebuçados de Funcho are yummy! My grandparents used to bring some for us when they used to come from Madeira to visit us… I wish they were still alive; they were really good people and I miss them so much…

My niece had her first birthday party on Saturday. One year old already! She’s starting to walk, she can only take several steps and in no time she’ll be running around all on her own… Time flew by too fast! During the party, my niece wanted me to hold her and as she got into my arms, she pushed herself to lie in my arms, closed her eyes, started humming and in a few minutes fell asleep. She’s usually fussy when it comes to sleeping so this was totally out of character… It was so adorable though!

Victor and I have an appointment with the bank this Saturday in regards to a home loan as we are looking for a place to move in together. I’m really anxious about this because if the bank says no; we’ll have to rent instead of buying a place of our own which is what we want. Preferably a townhouse with a private garden in a secured complex… I guess after we’ll know what we can do after our appointment with the bank. I wish that day was here already!
