Special Treatment

Yesterday afternoon I went to Mirrors, my brother’s fiancé’s hair salon and got my hair cut, dyed and styled by my brother. My friend, David had sent me the money for me to get my hair done and because I only received it into my account yesterday, I made an appointment for that afternoon.

My appointment was at half past two yesterday afternoon with Alex, my brother’s fiancé but when I got there he told me that my brother will be doing my hair… I left the salon at around quarter to six o’clock that evening. My hair had to be cut first then dyed and then styled and thinned after that. Because I had thick hair I had to pay double for the amount of dye that was used. I think that he could have done all the cutting and then dyed. Then I would have had to pay less than what I had to… Anyway it came out really good; I shouldn’t have doubted my brother. He never cut my hair before so I was a little worried until I saw the final result. My hair is now thinner, shorter; definitely more manageable and black; my favorite color and I love it! The only thing that needs getting used to is my fringe. But all and all, he did a pretty fucking good job!

Woolworths gift card from my friend, DavidI had a couple hundred rand left so I bought a bottle of hair color protecting shampoo and conditioner for my hair. And a ceramic straightening brush that I can use with my hairdryer because I never have had one of those brushes before.

A little after six o’clock last night I received a big brown bag via courier. Inside that big brown bag was a credit card size Woolworths gift card; such a small thing delivered in a large bag… The lovely black gift card was sent to me by David and was to be used for grocery and necessity shopping! As Victor and I are trying to make it this month with the very little funds that we have right now, receiving this gift card was a really great gift and really made my day today…

Victor took me to Woolworths at Westgate to do the shopping. We went there because the Woolworths store at Westgate is much larger than the one at Key West which is closer to where we live. But I wanted a larger variety to browse and so Victor took me to the Woolworths store in Westgate.

This is what I had bought today at Woolworths using the gift card:

I still have several hundred available on the gift card now and will be using it to buy things as needed, like bread, milk, eggs…

Woolworths has some really good food available. I really want to try some of the organic fruits…

This is the first time that my kind-of-little fridge is fully packed and I love fresh fruit in this summer heat. Absolutely divine! I have been craving fruit lately but haven’t been able to buy some until now.

Thank you, David!

  1. Aww how generous and sweet of him! Your hair looks so shiny in the picture too. It always feels great to be able to be pampered at a salon. And I’m glad you had fun buying the groceries as well. Shortbread cookies sound amazing right now. =]
