Stupid Call Center Agent!

So Vodacom was having “problems” with their 3G network earlier… The whole morning! And so I couldn’t get online and it was frustrating because I wanted to write a blog post but am no longer in the mood to write what I was going to at that time.

I called Vodacom and asked a call center agent if he had any idea when the network will be up again because I hadn’t been able to connect to the internet the whole morning because. He told me that their technicians were working on it and that he didn’t know when the 3G network will be running again. “Oh OK… Well, thanks for nothing and have a good day!” I said as I was about to hangup the phone…

“Well is there anything else I can help you with?” Asked the call center agent. “Um, no thanks. I just wanted to find out when I can get online again. I haven’t been able to do so all morning!” I replied. The call center agent made me think he had a hearing disability when he asked me, “So you are aware that you cannot get online because the 3G network is down at the moment?” “YES! I am aware of that. So yeah, thanks again for nothing. Have a good day!” And I hung up the phone.

What the fuck, man?!

  2. Ack, call centers are the worst. At least you were able to get online to rant about them though. Maybe they’ll read it and realize that they suck, lol.

  4. There are scripts and spiels that call center agents are required to follow (part of the call flow). I’ve worked for call centers for almost 2 years and the many time I skipped out on delivering the required spiel, it affected my quality score.

    And call center agents aren’t exactly informed when it comes to such matters, unless the issues are cascaded to them, always via email.
