So Vodacom was having “problems” with their 3G network earlier… The whole morning! And so I couldn’t get online and it was frustrating because I wanted to write a blog post but am no longer in the mood to write what I was going to at that time.

I called Vodacom and asked a call center agent if he had any idea when the network will be up again because I hadn’t been able to connect to the internet the whole morning because. He told me that their technicians were working on it and that he didn’t know when the 3G network will be running again. “Oh OK… Well, thanks for nothing and have a good day!” I said as I was about to hangup the phone…

“Well is there anything else I can help you with?” Asked the call center agent. “Um, no thanks. I just wanted to find out when I can get online again. I haven’t been able to do so all morning!” I replied. The call center agent made me think he had a hearing disability when he asked me, “So you are aware that you cannot get online because the 3G network is down at the moment?” “YES! I am aware of that. So yeah, thanks again for nothing. Have a good day!” And I hung up the phone.

What the fuck, man?!

OMG at how unhelpful call center agents are! I can’t imagine my internet being down all day. How did you cope with that?

Ack, call centers are the worst. At least you were able to get online to rant about them though. Maybe they’ll read it and realize that they suck, lol.

There are scripts and spiels that call center agents are required to follow (part of the call flow). I’ve worked for call centers for almost 2 years and the many time I skipped out on delivering the required spiel, it affected my quality score.

And call center agents aren’t exactly informed when it comes to such matters, unless the issues are cascaded to them, always via email.

yes its true dont be so judgemental you guys,being a call center agent is not easy,u people have to understand that we are to answer your questions/concerns,now if its beyond our powers,then well have to inform you of the updates about your cncerns,but with the spiels we say even if for you we did nothing,we still have to follow scripts ,its part of our job!

hey guys….those who are being judgemental to call center agents are those who are really stupid coz you know why???why are you still calling the call centers if you really know the answers and if you really know what are you going to do with the problem you have…see???!!!it means that you lack knowledge about the product or service so don’t be mean…

Being a call center agent is very stressfuljob.One of the hardest job in the world. Every customers are unique, different personalities, cultures, beliefs and accent. I learn how to read customer over the phone in terms of their accent and the way they talk. You can determined if this customer is well educated and professional or not. I have this customer and hes old. Hes calling how to turn on his TV bec he has no remote control. This was his exact question for me” How do i turn on my tv, using my finger?” You know what guys I dont know how to react, im gonna die at that moment and i press the mute button to inhale.. Hahha! And then i told to this customer, Since you dont have any remote control, you can use your finger to turn on your tv. And back of my mind” You can use also your nose to turn on… Hahha! But then that is rudeness. We dont want to get fired.. hahaha

call centers have jobs because there are stupid people on the world.
-low life people will keep calling in to ask for free credits
-stupid people calls thousand of times for an issue that only need common sense
-stupid people will keep calling in, because they did not read instructions, or their IQs are too low to understand a basic instruction.
-stupid people will call in asking when problems for their internet connection will be fixed,( as if were the ones working on the site to fix the problem) common sense please!!!
-people calling in, complaining that they cannot go online, because their PCs are turned off
but then again, were getting paid for their stupidity.
