I was watching a DVD with my youngest sister this morning while eating toast with strawberry jam for breakfast when all of a sudden my sister shouts, “Sandra, check out that huge mosquito!” I turned to look, “Where is it, Belle?!” She points up to the top part of the curtains of the window right where the couch I was sitting on was. I saw the damn creature just sitting there on the curtain; it was the biggest mosquito I had seen in my life.
I jumped up off the couch, looked at the mosquito and exclaimed, “It’s fucking huge, hey…” My sister looked at me in disgust as I spoke with my mouth full of half chewed toast, “I am going to kill the bitch!” And with that I ran off to get the Raid from the cupboard.
I ran back into the lounge and sprayed a few short bursts at the blood sucking creature. It flew from the curtain to the side table where it turned onto its back and began twitching frantically. I sprayed at it a couple more times shouting, “Die bitch, die!” The mosquito’s twitching became less hysterical so I return back to the couch and continued to watch the movie.
Several minutes later my sister says, “Sandra, look… It is still moving!” I turned to look at the dying mosquito on the side table then looked at my sister and said, “It’s going to die, don’t worry.” I climbed off of the couch, onto the floor and crawled over to the side table. I proceeded to raise the can of Raid and sprayed a short burst at the mosquito and quickly got back to the couch and looked at my sister and smiled.
The look on her face expressed confusion, amusement and something along the lines of, “What the fuck is wrong with you?!” The look on her face was priceless.
I haven’t been feeling too well recently and the summer heat isn’t helping me out one bit. All I want to is lay down with the windows open and sleep while the cool wind brushes against my skin. I might just go do that after I’m done typing this blog post.
Life has been uneasy, for lack of a better word. Victor and I have been fighting more these days than ever; over little things mostly. But you’d think we were fighting over something of more importance and not of something so simple.
The other time was when Victor had promised that he would help me clean the apartment by sweeping the floors and then I would wash them and do everything else. This was to be done before we’d go to my mother’s place to use her washing machine then make it back home before his friends, Riaan and Tanya came over for that weekend. But that morning he decides to go all the way to Makro instead of the mall close by to get Riaan’s birthday gift and gets back home much later than he should have… That was when I had just done all the cleaning by myself. But he walked in the door with a bottle of bubble bath and the part one of Heroes season one on DVD for me, just to say sorry…
He’s such a softie and cares way too much. I love him.
On Wednesday night I prepared a couple of Woolworths sweet & sour noodle boxes and some wonton wrapped prawns, served with sweet chili sauce. It was delicious!
I just couldn’t believe that I struggled so much when using the chopsticks… I was pretty good when I first ate with chopsticks, but now it’s like I never held a pair in my hands, ha!
I need to practice, I think…
My bed is calling out my name, I’m going to have a nap now and deal with the dirty dishes in my sink when I wake up because I really can’t be bothered to do so at this very moment.
Yesterday afternoon I went to Mirrors, my brother’s fiancé’s hair salon and got my hair cut, dyed and styled by my brother. My friend, David had sent me the money for me to get my hair done and because I only received it into my account yesterday, I made an appointment for that afternoon.
My appointment was at half past two yesterday afternoon with Alex, my brother’s fiancé but when I got there he told me that my brother will be doing my hair… I left the salon at around quarter to six o’clock that evening. My hair had to be cut first then dyed and then styled and thinned after that. Because I had thick hair I had to pay double for the amount of dye that was used. I think that he could have done all the cutting and then dyed. Then I would have had to pay less than what I had to… Anyway it came out really good; I shouldn’t have doubted my brother. He never cut my hair before so I was a little worried until I saw the final result. My hair is now thinner, shorter; definitely more manageable and black; my favorite color and I love it! The only thing that needs getting used to is my fringe. But all and all, he did a pretty fucking good job!
I had a couple hundred rand left so I bought a bottle of hair color protecting shampoo and conditioner for my hair. And a ceramic straightening brush that I can use with my hairdryer because I never have had one of those brushes before.
A little after six o’clock last night I received a big brown bag via courier. Inside that big brown bag was a credit card size Woolworths gift card; such a small thing delivered in a large bag… The lovely black gift card was sent to me by David and was to be used for grocery and necessity shopping! As Victor and I are trying to make it this month with the very little funds that we have right now, receiving this gift card was a really great gift and really made my day today…
